54th ASEEES Annual Convention (Virtual, 13-14 October 2022; Chicago, 10-13 November 2022)
We are now accepting proposal submissions for the 2022 ASEEES Annual Convention with the deadline of March 1. We plan to host an in-person convention in Chicago in November following a smaller virtual convention in October. In the proposal submission process, you will be presented with an option to apply to either the in-person or the virtual convention. The number of sessions for the virtual convention will be limited. We acknowledge that circumstances surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic continue to evolve and sympathize with possible health, travel, and financial restrictions of our members. However, we are unable to accommodate the option to move from an in-person to virtual or virtual to in-person format in 2022 due to the severe scheduling challenges we faced during the 2021 Convention. We thank you for understanding this constraint when submitting proposals. ASEEES will be carefully monitoring the conditions and best practices and will make adjustments as necessary to ensure the health and well-being of our convention attendees.
All session participants must agree to participate in person or virtually. Hybrid sessions during the in-person convention will not be permitted. Technical requirements for hybrid sessions at the in-person convention venue are prohibitively expensive.
The Proposal Submission is now open: www.aseees.org/convention/cfp
ALL panel, roundtable, lightning round, individual paper, individual lightning round presentation submissions are due by March 1.
All film screening submissions and affiliate group meeting requests are due by April 1.
Please review the rules for participation and submission process carefully before you start your submission.
- The 2022 session categories now include Folklore Studies.
- Panel proposals must have minimum of 3 to maximum of 4 paper presentations.
- We are accepting lightning round proposals with 6-8 presenters.
- Gender diversity on panels, roundtables, and lightning rounds is strongly encouraged.
- Sessions with participants of diverse racial, ethnic, and national backgrounds are strongly encouraged.
- If you postponed a panel or roundtable that was accepted for ASEEES 2021, you must resubmit your proposal for the 2022 Convention. To help reviewers evaluate submissions, mark the box on the submission form indicating you are re-submitting a 2021 accepted proposal.
Panelists Wanted Board: We STRONGLY encourage all interested participants to form, or become part of, a panel proposal. Individual paper submissions have a MUCH LOWER chance of being accepted than panel proposals. To assist in the process of forming panels, we have created the Panel/Paper Wanted Board. If you are looking for a panel to join or a paper presenter for your panel, please review the proposals on the online board. You can also indicate your willingness to volunteer as chair or discussant on this form.
Membership Requirement: ALL individual paper and lightning round proposal submitters and panel/roundtable/lightning round organizers in the US and abroad MUST be ASEEES members in order to submit a proposal. Please review the membership rules for participation. Renew your membership today: www.aseees.org/membership/individual.
With any inquiries about the convention, please contact Margaret Manges, the convention manager, at aseees.convention@pitt.edu If you need assistance logging into the ASEEES members site or are experiencing other technical difficulties, please contact aseees@pitt.edu
